We had a fantastic weekend stay at The Downs in Thurlestone, South Devon. The location was simply amazing, with breathtaking views over Bigbury Bay and Burgh Island. The bedrooms, although small, were adequate for our needs and the bathroom had an abundance of hot water. The lounge/diner and kitchen were nice and the property had beautiful stone walls and paving. The large grassy garden, some areas newly seeded, added to the charm. We loved being able to walk to the beach and along the cliffs to the next village for dinner. The cliffs were glorious and we even found a secluded cove for an evening swim. The children enjoyed playing in the spacious grounds. The facilities were fair, with an equipped kitchen, comfy beds, and a fine shower. But the highlight was definitely the view. I thoroughly enjoyed sipping my coffee on the bench overlooking the bay.
Would recommend this hotel.

We had the opportunity to enjoy fishing in the nearby area, which was a great experience for all of us. The beautiful views over Bigbury Bay and Burgh Island were truly mesmerizing. We also loved the close proximity to the beach and the ability to walk along the cliffs to the neighboring village for a delicious dinner. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare meals for the whole family, and the comfortable beds ensured a good night's sleep. the location and amenities of The Downs were perfect for our family vacation.
For dads, it would be great to have more family-friendly activities or facilities available for children.
